Publish your own book

June 19, 2007

As a blogger, I sometimes entertain the thought of having my own book and self publish my ideas in print. I often wonder how it is to see my name printed on the cover of some book. Well, at least my blogs are giving me the fun of getting my ideas published, though online and not in print, they still got to be read and acknowledged by others.

It's great to know though, that there's a self-publishing company like AuthorHouse that has helped others reach their dreams of getting published in print, be it novels, fiction, mystery and other book genres. Through AuthorHouse, the writers can decide with regards to creativity in the layout and design, marketing and distribution, and other important matters. You can request for their free publishing guide, which would definitely be a big help, whether it's your first book or your tenth.

Hi. I just bought the first copy of my own book at Lulu.com If I’m happy with it and there aren’t any more typos to fix, I’ll investigate about getting an ISBN which costs more. Otherwise, you just upload your word document (or make a pdf file with embedded fonts which I coudn’t figure out how to do), select one of their covers (or make your own) and order the book.

I figured I could sell it for $10 and with the cost of the book and the commission to Lulu.com I’d end up making about $2.48 US on each book. I can also offer a download copy of the book. It’s not like I’m going to get rich doing it, but it’s a way to offer something at my website and have the satisfaction of saying, “I’ve written a book”.

They print on demand so you don’t have a warehouse of books to store and you don’t spend any money at all with it for basic publishing. I’m jazzed. The book is called, “When Spirit Whispers” and the link to have a look at it is: http://www.lulu.com/content/988311
