CBT, an alternative to classroom training

July 12, 2007

Classroom learning can be tedious sometimes especially when your location is far from the training area. Most companies either hire in-house trainers or send their staff to attend trainings and they had to take time off from work, you have to fix a good schedule to gather them and, more often than not, productivity is affected. I used to work in a telecoms firm and when our boss sends us to attend some training or seminar, I am not that happy about it, we come back to our offices with work piling up.

The idea of CBT or computer based training is very much welcome. Why so? Consider this: you study at your own pace, you don’t have to go somewhere to attend the training, thus no more travel involved, your time is maximized and you get to arrange your schedule accordingly. That’s flexibility for you. These are just a few of the advantages of computer based training. Personally, I can learn and catch up faster when I study by myself. Yes, the classroom with an instructor helping you out is fine. A personal touch is much different than a talking computer, but for me, the CBT advantages outweigh more the pros of learning in a classroom environment. Anyway, it really depends on what works for you.

A company that offers custom eLearning solutions for web or computer-based training is ResourceBridge. With their services, they can help boost productivity and profitability while helping you save on travel and support expenses especially when given the challenges of company end users located all over the country or you need to train a huge number of staff simultaneously. They have proven strategies with their exclusive “Instructor Element” developed to provide end users with a learning environment that’s just right for them with the training materials designed for the audience’ preferences.
