Verifying your PayPal account with UnionBank eWallet

October 25, 2007

UnionBank eWallet So finally last Monday, I was able to complete PayPal’s expanded use enrollment after adding my UnionBank savings eWallet as a debit account. The process works differently for the UnionBank Credit card holders since they can get their code from their transaction history online.

For UnionBank savings eWallet holders, this is how to get the expanded use code:
“…please contact the UnionBank Customer Service Call Center at 84-186 and ask the customer service agent to provide you with the 4-digit PayPal expanded use code.”

I tried using the toll-free number provided (84-186) but it didn’t work for me. So I called up their branch office and the staff explained that it’s only for Metro Manila area. I was advised to try the Domestic toll-free number at the back of my ATM card which was 1-800-1888-2277. It didn’t work too. I called up again and learned that it works only for PLDT phones and since I’m using Globelines, I had to find a PLDT phone to call their customer service for my expanded use code.

Finally after going to a PLDT payphone, I was able to talk to somebody from customer service. She asked for my ATM card number, name and the date I registered the UnionBank account with PayPal. After few minutes, she gave me the four digit code. Whew! I hurriedly went home, and logged in to my PayPal account, clicked the “Finish Expanded Use Enrollment” under the To Do list. After entering the code, a confirmation message said my PayPal account is already verified. Yey!

I will be posting next about how to transfer funds from PayPal to your UnionBank account.
