Vision care
June 2, 2008Most of us in the family have defective vision, so the parents are wearing eyeglasses, while the younger generation, contact lenses. I know some families with most members who are nearsighted too. It runs in the genes as they say. While some don’t really mind wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses, there are the maintenance costs on vision care that sometimes make a big dent on the budget. For instance, my mom recently bought transition eyeglasses (they change color from light to dark when exposed to the sun) that cost much.
For those with limited budget, they can opt for vision discount programs such as those offered by Ameriplan. This is another alternative to medical and health insurance. AmeriPlan Vision gives 20% - 60% discount on vision care including lenses, tints, coatings, frames or whatever one needs along this line. This should be of interest to those who opt for affordable eyecare with their network participated by large chains of vision providers.
