Frugal cell phone user
October 22, 2008 That’s me! My cell phone is a Nokia 2610 which I bought December 2006 in Thailand. It may not be a high-end phone, but it is fine with me since I’m just contented with its basic features for calling and sending SMS, and it’s still working OK until now. Sometimes it would just give me a white screen when I start it up or when the message inbox is full, but these errors occur rarely so I still am satisfied with my phone for now.
At times I would drool over the latest cell phone models especially those Sony Ericsson camera-phone-mp3-player cuties but then I’d pinch myself (not literally huh) back to reality and remind myself that I have other better things to dream about (like another trip to Europe perhaps?).
Even if my phone is not the high-end model, I still make full use of it – I even use it as my daily alarm clock and reminder. I prefer few minutes of mobile phone calls during urgent situations than sending SMS which sometimes arrives to its recipient hours after. I’m using a prepaid account so I make sure that each peso of load/credit is put to good use. Thus don’t expect me to send you forwarded ready-made messages. I prefer to save my credits for much better use such as urgent phone calls or important messages.
