On learning life’s lessons

April 14, 2009

Life offers us varied challenges and each day we learn from our successes and mistakes. Some would readily say that “experience is the best teacher” when it comes to most of life’s lessons. While nearly everyone would agree to this known saying, our experiences may not be the best teacher there is according to a business guru. He stressed that the best teachers are those who have been there, they are called mentors.

Do we really have to go through a trial and error process to experience or learn some of life’s lessons? It is best to get our lessons from those who have been there and became successful. It simply is a waste of time and effort to go through painful experiences just so to learn from them the hard way.

For instance, in the business world, there are many advices that we can get from successful mentors who share what they have gone through and how they thrived. Learning from their wisdom and experience is the smartest and fastest way to succeed instead of having to go through the process yourself. Whether your career is focused on commercial real estate, selling insurance or in the medical field, attending trainings, conferences and seminars are essential to one who aims to succeed in his career.

Reading biographies and books of successful persons and being open to learn from mentors should be the mindset of a person who dreams big. What one learns and gains from the wisdom and knowledge offered by such publications and events is priceless.
