Where do you get your news?

April 14, 2009

I am not really a news person. I don’t listen to radio talk shows just like my Uncle who unfailingly turns on his radio early in the morning to listen to political and social commentaries. I am not fond of watching news on TV as well.

I just find our local TV news show too sensationalized or full of unnecessary reports of violent happenings around the city. Do we really need to know about a certain person’s crime committed against his neighbor because of some petty quarrel? C’mon media people, we want news that prioritizes more on social and community issues.

This is why most people with internet access, at home or at work, just browse their favorite online news sites to get some news flash or some breaking news. This way, they can control which news article they’d like to read or if they want to just skim the page and move on to search for some cheap auto insurance online.

News via the Internet is usually more updated than the evening TV news, and online news sites are not the only ones dishing out the latest stories. There are many blogs with updated stories about events and you can even get the juiciest details if the blogger has been on the news scene or experienced the event first hand.
