Travel souvenirs as home decors

May 26, 2009

Most travelers would bring with them souvenirs from their trips and highlight them as décors in prominent areas of their home. For instance, my mom bought some small porcelain glasses and other handicrafts during our Europe trip, and now they are proudly displayed in a glass cabinet in the living room. She wouldn’t miss buying something wherever we went, even some shell collection when we were at a grocery in Finland. Now they are displayed on top of the refrigerator. These souvenirs, though trivial for some, make her happy as they remind her of her travels. I remember I bought some handicrafts during my trip to Thailand to smarten my room as well.

For Asian inspired home design, there are many unique and exotic décors and native products to give rooms that distinct Oriental touch. For instance, there are some handicrafts from Nepal and Tibet which can be browsed over at the Silver Sky Imports website. They feature items such as ethnic jewelry, wood masks, prayer flags, chimes, bells, rugs, statues and other unique handicrafts. Check out their crystal singing bowls made of pure quartz crystal which provide a unique sound meant for meditation and healing. It’s interesting to know that these products come from the “roof of the world”, the Himalayan region, known for the many myths and mystery surrounding it. No need to travel all the way to the Himalayas as these unique products can be bought online from their site.
