Don’t use indoor furnitures outside
June 11, 2009It’s not only common sense, it’s also a regulation by the Delaware City Council which recently amended the city code regarding outdoor furniture. Thus residents should keep their sofas and mattresses indoors as according to the code, “No person shall place, use, keep, store, sell, collect, leave, permit, or maintain or suffer to remain outdoors any couches, chairs, tables, mattresses, rugs, or other furniture or appliances not expressly manufactured for outdoor use.” In case of garage sale, such items are allowed to be outdoors but still should be according to specific guidelines.
This regulation regarding indoor furniture is based on some complaints such as neighborhood aesthetics, health and nuisance reasons and safety risk as some indoor furniture are flammable. Putting them outside also make them easy targets for mold, insects, and rodents.
