I want a vacation! :)

August 26, 2009

I may not have such a high profile life but just reading about President Obama’s vacationing at Martha’s Vineyard makes me want to go on a long nice break as well. A weekend in Tagaytay or few days stay at a Myrtle beach golf resort would be great. Sigh. Mom just left me to take care of stuff here. So it’s just me, myself and I to talk with the contractor and the designer tomorrow. And so many piled up tasks waiting for me on my laptop while the room is just a mess! Help!

White House executive chef Cristeta Comerford awarded by BPI

Pinay executive chef in the White House, Cristeta Comerford, is one of the honorees this year by the Bank of the Philippines as an outstanding Filipino overseas, for her outstanding achievement in culinary arts. She was first appointed as executive chef by First Lady Laura Bush in 2005 and retained her position with the new presidency under Barack Obama this year.

Having worked for both families, Comerford noted that both have preference for healthy food. For instance, the Obamas chose to have organic produce from the White House garden. With such healthy eating habits, searching for the best weight loss product or stacking up on junk foods would not be appropriate, yeah? For me, the preference for organic produce is a good example set by the First Family to those concerned with living a healthy lifestyle.

Anyway, Comerford is proud of her Filipino roots and considers her family, her husband and daughter, as important to her. As a wife and mother, she still maintains balance between her busy career and her family life. According to the First Lady Michelle Obama, “Cristeta Comerford brings such an incredible talent to the White House operation and came very highly regarded from the Bush family.” She further added, “Also the mom of a young daughter, I appreciate our shared perspective on the importance of healthy eating and healthy families.”
