My kind of diet
March 25, 2010
I have been on a kind of a diet that does not send me on to hunger land. Personally, I just can’t stand depriving myself of meals as my tummy would usually grumble, so going on a food strike is just not my style of going on a diet. Yup, I can’t go hungry, I have to eat!
So what’s my kind of diet? It’s a “semi” low-carb diet, and for me, this is one of the diets that work. Why just “semi”? Well, because I don’t really follow the low-carb diet rules strictly. I still include bread in my meals and sometimes sneak in some rice. Sometimes I would even treat myself to some donuts, pastries, ice cream and other sweets. But there are really times when my meals would just be purely meat, chicken, fish and veggies.
Depending on the body make of a person, or his/her metabolism, a certain kind of diet works best for him/her. So, how about you, what’s your kind of diet?
When kids become addicted to modern technology
I know kids can be glued to the computers when they play games or browse the Internet, but I can’t imagine how this could lead to addiction. I’ve just read an article about a rehabilitation clinic in the UK, the Capio Nightingale Hospital, which treats children especially the teens who are overly dependent on computer games and mobile phones. The hospital doctors and medical experts want to help kids cope with dependence on modern technology, teaching them to limit their time spent on the virtual world and to help them improve their relationship with others in the real world.
So how does computer addiction starts? According to the experts, when kids lack the confidence in themselves, they turn to computers, to the virtual world as an escape. Personally, I am not happy seeing kids spending so much time in front of the TV or the computer. I’d rather see them playing real games outside or doing creative work at home. As a business mentor once said, watching TV (that goes for playing computer games too) makes one’s mind stagnant and defocused. He said the TV and computer games can be a big de-motivator, taking one’s focus away from the things that matter most. Uh oh… warning to those addicted with Facebook games.
The real beauty
The cosmetics industry is a big money-maker. So many people, mostly the women, would like to hold the aging process. They go to all extent just to make themselves beautiful, so they say. For this reason, face creams of any kind, size, color and even odor are now coming out into the market.
The truth is, real beauty comes from the inside, which radiates to the outside gaiety of a person, making her/him exude a radiance which cannot go unnoticed. After all, when a person is good and righteous, he/she has peace, joy, contentment, which shows. He/she just naturally loves everyone; the effect of this is an attractive and pleasing personality.
This one is for the girls
Young girls usually have acne or any other facial skin problems. No wonder they resort to whatever suggestion they get, most especially when these medications are just newly introduced and offer special discounts! Anything provided they offer and promise relief, and are very affordable! No wonder most fall into the trap of unscrupulous money lovers who just do any business, regardless of the harm it would do to the users… pity them. Warning therefore to the young: beware of just any acne scar removal cream. It may just be a disaster which later one would regret.
A usual woe of mothers
The first child of our cute youngest sister is Caity, the ever-active smart, cutie girl of two-and-a -half years. No wonder that the prayer of the parents would be a boy for their next baby. How happy they could be that they got an answered prayer! It’s now more than a month that my sister delivered her cute second child, a robust and healthy baby boy, thank God. However, she hasn’t been back to her girlie cute figure, she must need quick weight loss diets I guess. And this is perennial challenge to almost all mothers: to be back to their previous slimmer figures!
