God bless Thailand

October 26, 2011

These past days, our family has been worried about my bro who’s currently based in Thailand regarding the shocking news about the country’s flooded cities and provinces and how the waters already reached the campus where they are staying last Friday. Everybody in the campus had to evacuate as per instruction from the institute President, the photos my sis-in-law uploaded on Facebook were heartbreaking, I could only cry looking at them, so shocked to see my former school and workplace inundated, the second floor of some buildings are almost reached by the flood.

Currently, the capital city of Bangkok is preparing for the flood and some districts are also told to evacuate. It is such a sad time for the Thais at this point. So many houses, buildings, landmarks and other important structures are badly damaged by the flood, such as restaurants, shopping malls, banks, etc. I wonder how the hospitals and medical institutions such as heroin detox rehab treatment centers or nursing homes handle such a calamity. I hope the doctors and their patients are safe, and treatments are still ongoing, especially those in critical conditions.

Presently, my bro and his wife are living at a friend’s house in a safer place, but they are looking for a place to stay for more than a month, until the campus buildings and facilities have recovered from the flood.
