Business and investing lessons in the family

December 8, 2011

Choosing a career can be confusing especially if one doesn’t know what she really wants. This is why some of the fresh high school graduates would simply follow their parents’ wishes when deciding on what course to take up in college. There are some though who have already made some clear-cut plans on which career path to take, be it in medicine, engineering or law, without relying on their parents’ preferences.

Some have also followed their parents’ footsteps in business and investing. When it comes to investing, I bet knowledgeable investors would encourage and educate their kids on buying solid assets so they would know how to buy silver eagles at Golden Eagle or determine which numismatic coin series offer the most profit in the future. How fortunate are those children who get expert advice regarding investment from their parents.

Most business owners would train their kids early in life regarding the nature of their trade, so as to orient them on the basics of their company’s management and operations. It’s usually a tradition of teaching the younger ones on how to manage the family business so it will last for more generations to come.
